Paseky nad Jizerou - Guest House Na Buďárce
The Na Buďárce Guest House is situated in the village of Paseky nad Jizerou. Paseky nad Jizerou» is a mountain village with a scattered development of original chalets. It is located in the western part of the Giant Mountains on the right bank of Jizerský důl. The lowest point is the water level of Jizera (476m) and the highest point is Bílá skála (964m).
The village was probably founded as far back as in the 16th century when forests began to be cleared to give way to glass works and clearings began to rise in the entire territory – that is where the village name comes from. In 1869 there were 1710 inhabitants living in 212 houses, which is the highest number of inhabitants that have ever lived in Paseky. Although clinched by predominantly German settlement, Paseky has always been a Czech village (except for World War II). That is why writer K. V. Rais, inspired by the local landscape and people, called his most widely known novel "Forgotten Patriots" (Zapadlí vlastenci).
The village has seen a continuous increase in the number of tourists in last decades. In winter it is due to the growing popularity of the local ski centre. Outside the winter season the village of Paseky is more and more visited by ramblers and cyclists who may find a quiet environment and well-preserved character of landscape there compared to large mountain centres. The whole territory of the village is situated in the protected territory of the Giant Mountains National Park. Since 1990 the village of Paseky has again become an independent village with 250 inhabitants.
